2 dead, 1 injured in Pagadian City road collision

PAGADIAN CITY –– Two persons died and another was injured in a road accident at Barangay Balintawak here Thursday evening, July 4.

Police Lt. Col. Alvin Saguban, Pagadian City police chief, identified the fatalities as Aljun Mong Andales, a resident of Barangay San Francisco, Pagadian City, and Bryan Dela Peña, a resident of Tagoloan, Lanao del Norte.

Injured was Roel Villetes Salvador, a resident of Barangay Cuatro-cuatro, Dumalinao, Zamboanga Del Sur.

The three were aboard a motorcycle, driven by Andales, going towards Dumalinao town.

While traversing the national highway amid heavy rain, their motorcycle collided with a speeding vehicle at the North Diversion Road, Saguban said, quoting an initial investigation report.

A team from the Police Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9, who immediately responded to the incident, rushed Salvador to the Zamboanga Del Sur Medical Center, while Andales and Dela Peña were brought to Jamellaren Hospital.

Dela Peña was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while Andales died a few hours after the incident, Saguban said.

The police were still establishing the details of the vehicle that collided with the motorcycle, Saguban added.

The police and the victims’ families have called on those who witnessed the collision to help identify the other vehicle and its driver. (Editor: Leti Boniol)
