Duterte will keep his word and resign if son Paolo runs for Speaker — Go
MANILA, Philippines — Will President Rodrigo Duterte resign if his son Paolo joins the Speaker race in the House of Representatives as he promised earlier?
Neophyte Senator Christopher “Bong” Go said Tuesday he believes the President will keep his word as he described him as a “man of one’s word.”
“Knowing the president, kilala ko po siya (I’ve known him) in the last 21 years. Kung ano pong binitawan na salita ni Pangulong Duterte ay tutuparin niya po ‘yun (He will keep his word),” Go told reporters in an interview.
“Mayroong isang salita si Pangulong Duterte (President Duterte fulfills his promises),” he added.
On Tuesday, presidential son and Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte had a change of heart and said he is now open to run for the House Speakership.

However, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Duterte could “change” his mind on his promise of resignation.
