Ave Maria shoots for CBA title today
Game Thursday (Mandaue Complex)
3:30 p.m. – Ave Maria vs. SCSIT
The Ave Maria Sanctuary and Park will try to end it all today and hoist the crown in the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Basketball Association as they gun for a sweep of the best-of-three finals series against the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology Skyblazers in Game 2, at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
Ave Maria got the step up on the Skyblazers in Game 1, 83-79, behind old pillars Alex Cainglet and Aldrin Ocanada. The two stalwarts, who have spent many years paying their dues in local commercial leagues, poured 19 points each while former University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguar Kurt Amores added 14 markers.
Ave Maria will try to finish off the Skyblazers with their collection of talent led by former pros Jercules Tangkay, Danny Aying and Bruce Dacia as well as former collegiate MVP Enrico Llanto.
The Skyblazers will try to force a do-or-die Game 3 but their chances largely hinge on their main stars, the MLKP-Cebu Niños’ Mark Abadia and Stephen Padilla along with Ronan Isidro, Rino Berame and Jimwell Torion.
The champion team will receive P200,000. /Correspodent Jonas Panerio
