Patriots down Saigon

/ 06:47 AM December 18, 2011

THE AIRASIA Philippine Patriots also got their stint in the “To Be Number One Basketball Challenge” basketball tournament off to a fast start as they defeated the Saigon Heat, 75-59, in Thailand last Friday.

The Patriots, the country’s other squad in the ASEAN Basketball League aside from the San Miguel Beermen, overcame a listless first half that saw them score just 27 points and get behind, 27-29, to the Julius Hodge-led Heat.

However, Patriots import Anthony Johnson woke up from his slumber and scored 24 of his 26 points in the second half to power the team to the win. Nakiea Miller also had 15 pts and 17 rebs. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
