Authorities foil NPA attack on Bukidnon farms
MANILA, Philippines — Members of Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) foiled an attack of the New People’s Army (NPA) on private farms in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon on Tuesday night.
A report from Col. Surki Sereñas, Police Regional Office 10 spokesperson, said authorities received information from a citizen that heavily armed NPA members trooped to Sitio Aurora in Barangay Sto. Niño at 11 p.m.
AFP and PNP troops responded to the report that the NPA members harassed local Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) detachment in the area and engaged the rebels in a firefight.
Police said there were no reported injuries in the incident. Recovered from the scene were fired cartridge of cal. 45, AK-47 and M-16 assault rifles.
The police said the retreating NPA members also torched two L300 vans, one Isuzu Elf truck, one Toyota Hilux pick-up truck, and two motorcycles.
Police asserted that NPA members planned to destroy farms and government installation in the
area.
