Magnitude 4.1 earthquake shakes Marihatag, Surigao Del Sur anew

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck the municipality of Marihatag, Surigao del Sur anew on Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The quake’s epicenter was recorded at 76 kilometers southeast of Marihatag, and was of tectonic origin.

Phivolcs said that the temblor struck at 8:39 a.m., and had a depth of 15 kilometers.

No aftershocks and damages were expected, Phivolcs added.

On Wednesday, May 8, four earthquakes rocked Marihatag.

The first was a magnitude 4.3 quake which struck at 2:01 a.m., followed by two weaker tremors at magnitude 2.6 at 2:20 a.m. and a magnitude 2.8 at 6:47 a.m.

The last earthquake to hit Marihatag on Wednesday was another magnitude 4.3 quake recorded at 1:34 p.m. /muf
