Jimenez to LGUs: Prepare for spike in political rallies, motorcades
MANILA, Philippines — With only 14 days to go before election day, Commission on Election (Comelec) spokesperson James Jimenez reminded all local government units (LGUs) to prepare for a spike in political activities in their areas.
Historically, Jimenez said there is an increase in the number of motorcades, the number of people on the streets, and a number of rallies on the last few days of the campaign period.
“A gentle reminder to local government units to make sure that their streets are able to accommodate this spike in the activities of local campaigns,” he said.
“Please make sure that your procedures are in place to make sure na patas ang treatment natin sa lahat ng kandidato (that you treat all candidates fairly) during these last few days,” he added.
The last day of campaign for all candidates — may it be national or local officials — is set for May 11, two days before the election day.
Jimenez also issued some reminders to candidates running for election in the midterm polls.

“You have the privilege of posting that 24 hours before, but it has to be taken down within 24 hours after the end of your political rally as well. This applies to all sorts of political rallies, even major meeting de avances,” Jimenez added. /ee
