WATCH: QCPD, other agencies hold simulated bomb explosion, disposal

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and other local government agencies conducted a simulated bomb disposal operation at a food park in Cubao, Quezon City, to test the response time of their personnel.

During the simulation on Tuesday morning, the QCPD, the local Bureau of Fire Protection, the local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, and health organizations demonstrated how first responders should act during and after a bomb explosion possibly “detonated”  by terrorists.

Operatives from the QCPD Explosive Ordinance Division (EOD) also considered the possibility of a second explosion — just like the Jolo Cathedral bombings — prompting them to use a bomb disposal robot in the simulated detonation of a second improvised explosive device.

According to QCPD, the simulation was done on orders from Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Oscar Albayalde to ensure that places of convergence would be secured amid the influx of people this summer and the Holy Week.  /muf
