4.5-magnitude quake jolts Eastern Visayas on Sunday
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – A minor earthquake was felt in some parts of Eastern Visayas early Sunday although the regional Office of Civil Defense didn’t report any damage.
The magnitude 4.5 tremor occurred at 5:58 a.m. and was followed by two aftershocks, according to the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Philvocs).
The tremor’s epicenter was traced in Maydolong town in Eastern Samar, about 100 km away from here and was felt in the towns of Palo, Babatngon, MacArthur and in Tacloban City, all in Leyte at Intensity II and in San Julian and Guiuan towns, both in Eastern Samar, at Intensity I.
The jolt was followed by aftershocks. The first had a magnitude of 3.8 at 6:17 a.m. Another aftershock with a magnitude of 3 happened at 6:49 a.m. /cbb
