Farmer killed in Quezon road accident

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – A 58-year-old farmer was killed after he was accidentally hit by a tourist bus along the Maharlika Highway in Atimonan town in Quezon province early Sunday, police said.

The Atimonan police station reported that Rodel Ursabia Gatmaitan was bumped by the passing bus when he suddenly crossed the highway in Barangay (village) San Isidro at about 1:40 a.m.

The victim was pinned by the front tire of the bus and sustained severe head and body injuries. He died while being taken to Doña Marta District Hospital in the town center.

Police have taken custody of bus driver, Leonardo Villaroya.

The bus was registered to Elavil Tours Philippines Inc. with office address in Daet town in Camarines Norte province. /cbb
