Pangasinan town to unveil world’s tallest bamboo sculpture

BAYAMBANG, PANGASINAN — This agricultural town in central Pangasinan is poised to make another feat in the Guinness World Records with its tallest bamboo sculpture in the world.

The crowd at the back of the 50.23-meter statue of their patron Saint Vincent Ferrer burst into applause when Guinness World Records adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar from India announced the record after the measurement of the statue on Friday morning.

The adjudication was witnessed by Aida Lapis, an independent forester and bamboo expert from the Philippines.

The record will be officially announced on Friday night during the unveiling ceremony.

The statue is made of engineered bamboo with steel frame and located at the Saint Vincent Prayer Park in Bani village of this town.

This is the town’s second Guinness record. The first is the longest barbecue (8 kilometers) in 2014 after snatching the record from Turkey.
