Earthquake jolts Loreto, Dinagat Islands
MANILA, Philippines — A 5.4-magnitude earthquake jolted Dinagat Islands on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs reported in its updated earthquake bulletin that the temblor hit 49 kilometers (km) northeast of Loreto, Dinagat Islands at 10:16 a.m.
The quake was felt at Intensity V in Loreto, and Intensity IV in Southern Leyte, Intensity III in Surigao City; San Jose, Dinagat Islands; Limasawa, San Francisco, San Juan, Hinunangan and Maasin City in Southern Leyte; Tacloban City; Ormoc City, Palo, Hilongos, Bato, Hindang, Babatngon, Javier, MacArthur, Tanauan, Matalom, Abuyog, Isabel, Capoocan and Dagami in Leyte and Lawaan, Eastern Samar.
An Instrumental Intensity IV was felt in Borongan City, while an Instrumental Intensity III was felt in Surigao City.
Palo, Leyte registered an Instrumental Intensity II, while an Instrumental Intensity I was felt in Talibon, Bohol; Roxas City, and Gingoog City, Phivolcs said.
The quake, which was of tectonic orgin, had a depth of 30 km.
