Davao del Sur on ‘yellow’ alert due to heavy rain
DIGOS CITY, Philippines – Mayor Joseph Peñas canceled classes in all levels both public and private schools since Monday afternoon.
Peñas on Tuesday also ordered the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) to monitor the riverbanks and the hinterlands for possible flash floods and landslide.
Since Monday night, the city has been experiencing non-stop rain until the following morning.
All classes in the province were also suspended and local executives urged the public to be vigilant, particularly those living in hilly areas and along river banks.
On Tuesday morning, the weather bureau placed Davao City and Davao del Norte under yellow rainfall warning, while the provinces of Davao Oriental and Compostela were put under orange warning.
