Suspected drug pusher killed in Makati buy-bust

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected drug pusher was killed in a shootout with anti-narcotics agents in Makati City early Saturday.

Police identified the slain suspect as an alias “August.”

Police said the suspect was a member of the Norman Manite group which is behind the distribution of illegal drugs in Makati and Taguig.

According to the police report, members of the Makati Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a buy-bust operation at 1:30 a.m. along E. Jacinto Street, JP Rizal, Barangay West Rembo.

Police said the suspect opened fire at the undercover police agents during the bust, triggering a shootout. The suspect was killed on the spot, police said.

Recovered from the suspect’s black belt bag were 10 small plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and a caliber .38 revolver. /muf
