Batangas village chief, cousin gunned down
SAN PEDRO CITY — Two persons, one of them a village captain in Taysan town in Batangas province, were shot and killed on Monday morning.
Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of the Calabarzon police, identified the victims as Rolly Loredo, 39, captain of Barangay (village) Mataas na Lupa, and his cousin, Reynan Garbin, 29.
According to Gaoiran, the victims were on board their car when gunmen, on a white, unmarked Toyota Innova, fired shots at them in Barangay Mahanadiong around 8:30 a.m.
She said that based on witnesses’ accounts, one of the gunmen was at the backseat of the Innova when he fired a long firearm. Both victims were killed instantly.
Police have yet to determine a motive as investigation continued.
