Bolo-wielding amuck killed after hacking 2 in Quezon
LUCENA CITY, Philippines – A bolo-wielding man was shot dead in Quezon province on Saturday after he ran amuck and hacked two villagers, police said.
Chief Inspector Michael Encio, Atimonan police chief, identified the fatality as Edmerson Libot, 32, who allegedly ran amuck with a bolo in Barangay Inaclagan, Atimonan town, at about 11:30 a.m.
Libot allegedly hacked and wounded farmer Manuel Joven and village watchman Arnaldo Cañada, who tried to pacify him.
PO1 Marco Polo Umali responded and told Libot to lay down the bolo. But instead of heeding the order, Libot allegedly assaulted Umali who lost his balance and fell to the ground.
Libot then reportedly tried to hack the policeman who managed to shoot the attacker in the leg.
