2nd box of suspected cocaine found in Camarines Norte waters
LEGAZPI CITY — Another package of suspected cocaine was recovered Monday afternoon by residents a day after a box of cocaine was fished out of the sea at Vinzons town in Camarines Norte province, police said.
The box, which police said had the same physical appearance as the one fished near Quinamanucan Island in Sula village, was still at the crime laboratory as of this writing to confirm if they were from the same source and to determine if the white powder inside was cocaine, said SPO4 Nelson Gesuden, Vinzons municipal executive senior police officer.
Gesuden said Sabang village fisherman Jerry Aceron fished the box covered with plastic and rubber tape off the coast of Aguit-it village.
Aceron then gave it to another Sabang resident, Agustin Mendoza, who then threw it back to the sea after thinking that “it was a poisonous substance due to foul odor.”
Police then conducted a search after getting the report and found the box already soaking inside at Sabang at 5:30 p.m.
Sabang and Sula villages are separated by Vinzons River. Sabang and Aguit-it are neighbor villages. /lzb
