90-year-old man ‘out to kill Duterte, Go’ nabbed in Davao

DAVAO CITY — Police arrested a 90-year-old man for allegedly bringing a handgun and other deadly objects while trying to enter the office of former special assistant to the president and senatorial hopeful Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go here late Monday.

Bambaran Bantog, of Tamparan town, Lanao del Sur was turned over to police after a soldier manning the gate at the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OSAP) at Chavez Street here, found a caliber .45 pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition, two knives and a pair of scissors inside a sling bag and backpack he was carrying past 5 p.m., a report from the Davao City Police Office said.

Go confirmed the incident in a tweet and surmised the nonagenarian could be planning to kill him.

“An old man went to the OSAP in Davao City and he may be planning to kill yours truly,” the former presidential aide wrote in Filipino.
