LTFRB to summon driver of jeepney that collided with bus on Edsa

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will summon a driver whose jeepney collided with a passenger bus on the southbound lane of EDSA near the corner of Timog Avenue in Quezon City early Sunday morning.

Shortly after the collision, the LTFRB that, after its preliminary investigation, it had decided to set a hearing on the case and that it would issue a show cause order on the driver, Ignacio Cadayday, a 27-year-old resident of Roces Avenue in Quezon City.

According to the report by Quezon City District Traffic Sector 4, at least 12 passengers in the jeepney were injured in the crash.

Initial investigation showed that at about 6:25 a.m., the jeepney crossed the intersection coming from of East Avenue with the yellow light already on.

A southbound bus — driven by Allan Marino, a 38-year-old resident of San Ildefonso, Bulacan – rammed into the jeepney.

The bus was registered under Malanday Metrolink Bus Corp.

The LTFRB has already coordinated with authorities to ensure assistance for the injured.

“LTFRB continues to monitor the development of this case, particularly ensuring that all the victims receive benefits and assistance due them,” the LTFRB said.

“The LTFRB reminds all Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) companies and operators of their responsibility to provide roadworthy, safe, and convenient PUV units for the riding public,” it added. /atm
