MANILA, Philippines — Parents of children who were “rescued” in the Navotas City drug raid must be punished to “remind them of their responsibility,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. said on Thursday.

“Perfect. Punish them. They think they can fornicate, beget and forget; well go point a pistol at them to remind them of their responsibility,” Locsin wrote on Twitter.

Locsin was supporting the plan of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to file charges of child abuse and neglect against the parents of the 12 minors who were “rescued” last week from drug dens in Navotas City.

FEATURED STORIES

PDEA agents on Jan. 16 found the 12 minors between the ages of 4 and 15 at drug dens inside the Navotas Fishport at Barangay North Bay Boulevard North.

According to PDEA, video surveillance footage showed the minors were participating in drug sessions.

PDEA also arrested 15 drug suspects including two alleged drug pushers who used the children as their couriers.   /muf
