3 killed in Parañaque City fire

MANILA, Philippines — Three persons were killed in a fire that broke out in a residential area in Parañaque City on Tuesday afternoon, city fire officials said.

According to Fire Officer I Luvim Rey, only one of the victims has been identified, Maria Jocelle Maglakas, 25.

Rey said that around 50 houses and 120 families were affected by the incident. The blaze started around 2:49 p.m. in Daang Batang, Barangay Moonwalk in Parañaque City, and reached fourth alarm within 30 minutes.

Authorities declared the “fire under control” around 3:52 p.m. They extinguished the conflagration past 5 p.m.

The Parañaque City Fire Department said the incident remains under investigation, as of this posting. /kga
