2 women hurt in Davao del Sur firecracker mishap

BANSALAN, DAVAO DEL SUR–Two women were rushed to the hospital when a firecracker accidentally went inside their house through the roofings and exploded injuring them in the process on New Year’s Day.

Chief Insp. Rodante Varona, chief of police, said the incident happend at around 12:30 a.m. when Janice Atillo Villamor, 24, and Felirita Atillo 64, both married and were residents of Purok Everlasting, Brgy. Tubod here, were in their bedroom  and were about to sleep.

Police said a firecracker (kwitis) suddenly fell through the roof of the house and exploded. Luckily, the two victims only sustained minor injuries.

He said a neighbor named “Dodong,” 13, and a student, was reportedly investigated and referred to the  Barangay Child Protection Center (BCPC) for the mishap. /jpv
