COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Like a scene from an action movie, three men jumped off a truck shortly before it plunged off a 90-foot cliff in South Upi, Maguindanao on Sunday.

“We were injured for sure but at least we are alive,” Bobby Menez, 40 of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, said from his hospital bed here.

Bobby, his son Ayvee, and truck helper Goygoy Gullon, decided to jump from the truck traversing the descending portion of the highway after Bobby noticed that the brakes have failed at past noon.

“We no longer have brakes, jump, jump, the truck is heading to a cliff, jump,” Menez recalled telling his son and helper.  The truck fell into the cliff and was heavily damaged.
