A drug suspect was wounded when he allegedly tried to grab a policeman’s gun in Quezon City on Saturday.

Reggie Punzalan, a construction worker, was taken to Novaliches District Hospital after he was hit by a bullet in his left ankle, according to the Quezon City Police District.

The 23-year-old Punzalan was one of four men whom the police allegedly caught sniffing “shabu” (crystal meth) during an “Oplan Galugad” operation in Novaliches.

As they were being arrested, however, Punzalan reportedly grabbed the service firearm of PO1 Norman Borromeo.

As they grappled for possession of the weapon, it went off and hit Punzalan. His three companions, on the other hand, escaped, the police said.

Found at the crime scene were five sachets of suspected shabu.
