10 more Dengvaxia-related cases filed vs Garin, 37 others
A new batch of criminal complaints was filed on Tuesday before the Department of Justice against former Health Secretary Janette Garin and 37 others over deaths allegedly caused by the Dengvaxia vaccine.
Ten more families, assisted by the Public Attorneys’ Office (PAO), filed criminal cases against Garin, other health officials, and officials and personnel of vaccine manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur and its distributor, Zuellig Pharma.
Two of the criminal complaints have also named current Health Secretary Francisco Duque III as one of the respondents.
Cases of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, torture, violations of the Consumer Protection Act (Republic Act 7394), particularly ‘defective product’ and ‘mislabeled product,’ were filed against the respondents.
Cases against the respondents also included obstruction of justice.
This is the third batch of criminal charges over Dengvaxia-related deaths that the PAO has filed at the DOJ. This brings to 27 the number of criminal cases filed against Garin and other respondents. /ee
