Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Isidro Lapeña has denied spreading rumors that he would soon be axed from his post.

“I would like to inform the public, the men and women of the Bureau of Customs and the BOC stakeholders that there is no truth to the rumors circulating that I will soon be replaced as Customs Commissioner,” Lapeña said in a statement on Tuesday.

Lapeña also denied reports that he would be running in the 2019 elections.

“Let me also dispel the disinformation going around that I will be running for election.  I have no intention to run for any elective office,” he said.

He added he is still committed to serve the BOC under the orders of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“It is important to state that I serve under the pleasure of the President, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.  I serve the Bureau of Customs under his marching orders – to stop corruption, and increase revenue collection,” he said.

Lapeña, who formerly headed the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), was appointed as BOC head by President Rodrigo Duterte in August 21, 2017.

He replaced Nicanor Faeldon who resigned amid the investigation into the P6.4 billion shabu shipment that slipped through the BOC.  /muf
