Comelec wants ‘dignified’ filing of COCs for 2019 polls
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) wants a “dignified” filing of certificate of candidacy (COC), Spokesperson James Jimenez said on Wednesday.
Jimenez said this a day before the filing of COCs, which starts on Thursday.
“Gusto lang namin i-emphasize na ang goal ng ating paghahanda ngayon (We just want to ensure that the goal of our preparations) is to ensure that the filing is dignified,” he said in a news forum.
Jimenez said candidates for the 2019 midterm elections should also advise their supporters to not gather outside the Comelec building in Intramuros to maintain order during the filing of COCs.
“We don’t want to turn it into a circus of supporters. Ayaw natin na maging magulo (We don’t it to be chaotic),” he said.
