Former South Cotabato village chair slain

KORONADAL CITY – A former village chair in Polomolok, South Cotabato was executed by unidentified gunmen riding tandem on motorbike Sunday, police said today.

Chief Inspector Alex Joe Orcajada, Polomolok police chief, said the 74-year-old Ulama Nilong, former chair of Barangay Lapu, died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds in the head.

Orcajada said Nilong was heading for home about 1 p.m. aboard a pedicab when one of two men shot him from behind in Purok 3.

He had just attended a community prayer for Islam in the village when the shooting occurred.
