7 to 8 Cabinet men to run in 2019 – Andanar

Seven to eight members of the Duterte administration might run for the coming 2019 elections, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said Thursday.

“‘Possible’ na 7-8 ang tatakbo sa 2019. Let’s see if it reaches that number on the last day of the filing of CoCs (Certificate of Candidacies),” Andanar told INQUIRER.net in a text message.

Andanar, however, refused to name the Cabinet members with election plans.

On Tuesday, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said six Duterte men might run in next year’s midterm elections.

“Not just three, from my last count there will be around six (Cabinet members) who might file their Certificate of Candidacies for national and local positions,” he said.

Roque, who has been known to be eyeing a Senate seat, also said that he had yet to decide whether or not to run in the coming elections.

The Commission on Elections has set the filing of COCs on October 11 to 17. /cbb
