Senate ratifies expanded maternity leave bill

The Senate on Wednesday ratified the bicameral conference committee report on the bill that provides 105 to 120 days of maternity leave to all working mothers.

The consolidated version of the bill was approved by the congressional bicameral conference committee on Monday.

Sen. Risa Hontiveros, the author and principal sponsor of the bill, explained that it would provide 105 days of paid maternity leave to all working mothers and an additional 15 days to single mothers.

Once ratified by both chambers of Congress, the bill would be transmitted to President Rodrigo Duterte for signature and enactment into law. /atm
