Andanar on Uson’s resignation: I wish her well

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar respects the decision of his subordinate, Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson, to resign from her post at the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).

“Mocha is still a diehard Duterte supporter and I am one with her in that aspect. I wish her well,” Andanar told reporters in a text message on Wednesday.

Uson announced her resignation during the PCOO’s budget deliberations at the Senate earlier Wednesday.

In tandem with pro-Duterte blogger and friend Drew Olivar, Uson — a
former sexy starlet and girl group singer-dancer — has earned flak for their lewd “pepedederalismo” jingle-video and sign language video, which mocked the deaf-mute community.

Duterte and Andanar had previously defended Uson from the public’s backlash, saying it was part of her freedom of expression. /kga
