Jakosalem eyes OPBF belt in PP10

/ 07:50 AM December 01, 2011

Romeo “Jako” Jakosalem, who recently signed up with ALA Promotions, will gun for the OPBF light welterweight belt when he sees action in ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports’ Pinoy Pride X, on Dec. 10 at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

The 26-year-old fighter from Davao City will return to the ring five months after winning the Philippines light welterweight title as he battles Korean champion Pan Soo Kim.

Kim once challenged for the OPBF crown against defending champion Motoki Sasaki before the latter vacated it in favor of a world championship.

The fight between two national champions will be Jakosalem’s first since signing up with ALA Promotions and an impressive performance will catapult not only his ratings, but will also spur ALA Promotions to make him more active beginning 2012, as part of the company’s plans to feature more highly-ranked Filipino fighters in national and international fights.
