Iloilo bombing injures 2 cops
Two police officers from the provincial mobile group in Iloilo were injured after a bombing incident allegedly initiated by members of the New People’s Army (NPA) on Friday morning.
Police Chief Inspector Abner Jordan, commander of the group, and Police Officer 2 Rosenie Lebuna sustained minor injuries after NPA members reportedly detonated an improvised explosive device in Barangay Gumboc in Leon at around 6:20 a.m., a police official said.
Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, Director of the PNP Region 8, told INQUIRER.net in a text message that the NPA members ambushed the police while they were on patrol.
“We emphasize that the government is firm in upholding the law and order throughout the country,” Bulalacao said in a statement.
“All those who sow chaos and bloodshed and other terrorist acts will have to face the consequence of their actions,” he said.
