The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) reminded employers to strictly observe the rules on the payment of wages for August 21, a special non-working day and a regular holiday.

Dole issued Labor Advisory 12 on Thursday after President Rodrigo Duterte declared August 21 as a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Adha, coinciding with the day being an annual non-working holiday to commemorate the death of former senator Benigno Aquino, Jr.

The Dole reiterated that if an employee did not work, he/she shall still be paid 100 percent of his/her salary for that day, depending on the company’s certain conditions under the implementing rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, those who will work on August 21 shall receive a double pay and an additional 30 percent, which is equivalent to 260 percent of an employee’s basic pay.
