Student used as drug courier nabbed in Occidental Mindoro
CITY OF CALAPAN – Police on Friday arrested a student, who was allegedly told to deliver drugs as a courier, in a buy-bust operation in San Jose town in Occidental Mindoro province.
The San Jose police Drug Enforcement Unit arrested around 2 p.m. Jerald Malanao, 21, a college student and resident of Barangay (village) Labangan Poblacion, according to Supt. Imelda Tolentino, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police information officer.
Seized from Malanao were three sachets containing suspected shabu (crystal meth) and the P1,000 marked money used in the buy-bust.
Malanao confessed during an investigation that a certain Recarido San Juan, alias “Angel,” a detainee in Magbay Provincial Jail, also in San Jose, was his supplier of shabu, Tolentino said. The police jailed San Juan for a case involving drugs.
A follow-up operation coordinated with the warden officer found San Juan with a sachet containing suspected shabu in his shanty in the provincial jail.
