Speaker Arroyo’s 1st bill: Protecting sharks

/ 05:35 AM August 06, 2018

What’s the first bill authored by Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo after becoming Speaker?

It’s a measure seeking to regulate the trade of sharks, rays and chimaeras (ghost sharks or rat fish).

House Bill No. 7912 was filed during recess on July 9 and went through first reading on July 30, a week after Arroyo pulled off a coup to unseat Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez as Speaker. —Vince F. Nonato
