Unidentified man killed in clash with Ecija cops
SAN ANTONIO, NUEVA ECIJA – An unidentified man, reportedly armed with a cal. 38 revolver, was killed in a clash with police officers manning a checkpoint in Barangay (village) San Mariano here at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 4).
The slain man was driving a tricycle along the San Mariano-Lawang Kupang road when he tried to drive through the checkpoint after the police flagged him down.
The man opened fire as he sped off but was killed when the police shot back, said Chief Insp. Marlon Cudal, town police chief.
The tricycle driver was carrying two sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth), P120 in cash, a mobile telephone and a black bonnet. ARMAND GALANG
