Duterte to businesses: Obey laws and I will protect you

The government will protect businesses as long as they obey the country’s laws.

President Duterte made this assurance to the business community as he urged them to set an example by giving back to the community through corporate social responsibility.

“This government will protect you and your investments, and will ensure a level-playing field for you to thrive in as long as you obey the laws and safeguard the welfare of your people and general public,” he said during the 30th anniversary of Toyota Motors Philippines in Taguig City on Wednesday night.

President Duterte praised Toyota Motors for being a major driver of the economy as it employed more than 55,000 Filipinos. — JULIE M. AURELIO
