Pimentel tells PDP-Laban members: Trust the party leadership

Don’t be distracted by “concerted attacks” and trust the party’s leadership.

This was the appeal of Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, president of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), to the members of the ruling party.

“Huwag kayong magpaapekto sa concerted attacks against our party. Talagang ganyan po kasi political season,” he said in his speech.

PDP-Laban officers, led by Pimentel, held an assembly on Thursday amid a leadership crisis in the President’s party.

Last week, a faction of the party assembled and elected a new set of officers, ousting Pimentel and several others. The group, however, retained President Rodrigo Duterte as the party’s chairman.

“Sa ating partido, walang ganyanan. Sa ating partido walang gamitan ng tao,” Pimentel said.

“Nakakalungkot lamang na may mga taong gustong makakuha ng jackpot. Ayaw maghirap, gusto shortcut,” he added.

The senator said the party’s longevity and survival rely on the party members’ “gratefulness.”

Pimentel asked the PDP-Laban members to the trust the leadership, saying they have not made any decision detrimental to the party.

He urged the members to move on and start preparing for the 2019 polls, citing Duterte’s call for a strategic planning in August.  /vvp
