Gunmen shoot Arabic teacher dead, wounds daughter in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – An Arabic teacher was gunned down Tuesday night in Talon- talon Loop, Barangay Talon-talon in this city, while his daughter was seriously wounded.

Ibrahim Bakil Baguinda, 34, was aboard a motorcycle with three-year-old daughter Nuahra when two unidentified men on a motorcycle shot him in front of Ellysw Store at Talon-talon Loop at 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to Chief Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, deputy regional director for administration of Police Regional Office 9.

The men wore a full-face helmet with black mask and black jacket.

Baguinda was the sixth shooting victim in Zamboanga and his daughter, the third wounded victim in July alone.

After falling, he was approached by the gunmen and fired their last shots before speeding away, the police report said.

Officials of the Zamboanga City Police Office were silent over the series of violent incidents in this city where more than 30 people have been killed since January this year. JULIE ALIPALA
