/ 07:25 AM November 26, 2011

FORMER Akbayan party-list representative Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel criticized the Supreme Court for ruling in favor of former President Gloria Arroyo and allowing her to travel.

“They are biased—those eight justices led by (Justice Renato) Corona who voted in favor of GMA and against the government,” said Baraquel, who visited Cebu yesterday.

She said there would be a Truth Forum on Monday in preparation for the Supreme Court hearing on Tuesday to discuss about the validity of the electoral sabotage case filed by Department of Justice (DOJ) against Arroyo.

“We want real rule of law and we want to bring back public trust to the Supreme Court,” she said.

Baraquel also defended Justice Secretary Leila de Lima who was criticized for not following the Supreme Court ruling allowing Arroyo to leave the country.

Baraquel said she believed that Arroyo was ailing but she didn’t have to leave the country to get the best medical treatment.

“I think her illness is true but to the extent that it is life-threatening, nagdadrama lang siya,” said Baraquel. /STC Intern Tweeny Malinao
