No proof linking Kerwin Espinosa to drugs after Leyte buy-bust, cops say
There is no known proof that the drugs recovered in the buy-bust operation in Albuera, Leyte was connected to self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, two policemen admitted as they took the witness stand before a Manila court.
In a hearing before the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 26, PO3 Neil Radin and PO1 Winefredo Guiron testified over the drug charges filed against Kerwin Espinosa, the son of the late Albuera, Leyte mayor Rolando Espinosa.
Defense lawyer Jesus Obrero Jr. asked Radin if he had any proof, aside from prosecution witness Marcelo Adorco’s testimony, that the drugs came from Espinosa.
Radin said, “Wala na po (Nothing else).”
Meanwhile, Guiron was the poseur-buyer during the operation who purchased illegal drugs from Kerwin’s former bodyguard Jose Antipuesto.
Guiron admitted that Antipuesto only identified the source of the drugs as a certain “Boss K.”

The court will resume the trial in August after the prosecution sought for the issuance of subpoenas for other police officers in the Albuera buy-bust operation. /vvp
