People feel safer under Duterte administration – Palace
The government’s war on criminality is working as people feel safer walking in the streets at night, Malacañang said.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday said a Gallup report confirmed what the government was saying all along that communities were safer under the Duterte administration.
Roque said Gallup surveyed 148,000 people from 142 countries on their perception of safety and the Philippines scored 82, up from 76 points in 2014.
“Our people now feel safer if they walk alone at night in various communities and places,” Roque said at his weekly press briefing.
He said the score of 86 was “above” the average of 72 for East Asia. —Christine O. Avendaño
