A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck the town of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental on Thursday, according to a bulletin from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs officials said the quake, originally reported as a magnitude 3.8, was recorded one kilometer southeast of the municipality.
According to the bulletin, the earthquake, of tectonic origin, was located at a depth of 188 kilometers. Phivolcs said no damages and no aftershocks are expected as of now. /muf
