6 killed, 8 hurt in La Union, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan road accidents
LINGAYEN, PANGASINAN — Six persons, including a four-year-old boy, were killed while eight others were injured in a series of road accidents in the provinces of Pangasinan, La Union and Ilocos Sur over the weekend, police said on Monday.
The boy, identified as R-Jay Collado, did not make it alive to the hospital after the tricycle in which he and three others were riding was struck by a sports utility vehicle around 2 p.m. Sunday along the Manila North Road in Barangay (village) Payocpoc in Bauang, La Union.
Tricycle driver Soligon Bohol, 34, and his passengers, Fe Pang-ot, 49, and Ryan Collado, 26, were hurt.
In Ilocos Sur, Joselito Angala, 34, died on his way to the Sta. Lucia District Hospital at Sta. Lucia town after the tricycle he hired crashed into a malunggay tree at about 9 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Bacsayan.
Tricycle driver Jansey Jaramilla, 38, and his other passenger, Alejandro Jorvino, 41, are now being treated at a hospital.
In Umingan town, Pangasinan, Aries Dulay, 27, was killed when his motorcycle bumped into an electric post around 4:50 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Lubong.
Article continues after this advertisementDulay’s back-riders, Esmer Martin and Ricky Miranda, were rushed to the Umingan Community Hospital for treatment.
Article continues after this advertisementSeven hours later in the same town, Joseph Rabanillo, 28, was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a concrete barricade in Brgy Alo-o.
Rabanillo suffered head injuries and was taken to the Umingan Community Hospital for medical treatment but a doctor there declared him dead on arrival.
In Dagupan City, a security guard was killed when his motorcycle hit a concrete barrier around 8 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Bonuan Gueset.
Aquiles Repancol, 54, was declared dead on arrival at the Region 1 Medical Center.
In LIngayen town, Rene Maron, was killed when the motorcycle he was on hit the rear end of another motorcycle around 10:30 p.m. Sunday along the provincial road in Barangay Matalava.
The impact caused Maron’s motorcycle to roll down the road injuring its driver, Anthony Fernandez, 22, who was brought to the Lingayen District Hospital for treatment. /kga
