2 dead in Batangas road accident

SAN PEDRO CITY — Two people were killed in an accident involving a motorcycle and a truck in Sto. Tomas town in Batangas province early on Sunday.

Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon police, said the accident happened around 1 a.m. as the victims Orven Jason Sotoya and Michael Malbataan, onboard a motorcycle, were driving along Maharlika highway in Barangay (village) San Juan.

Investigators said the motorcycle suddenly swerved and occupied the opposite lane of the highway before hitting an incoming wing van truck, driven by Jowel Gracillan.

Both victims were taken to a hospital but died along the way. /je
