With only days before classes begin, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has started to monitor a surge in outbound passengers in Metro Manila.
According to the record of the PCG, a total of 77,241 passengers left ports nationwide from 6 a.m. to noon of Tuesday.
The travel breakdown of the PCG showed that biggest chunk of passengers came from the ports located in Western Visayas with 14,665.
The ports in Central Visayas, Southern Tagalog, and Northern Mindanao have 11,120, 8,119, and 8,048 passengers respectively.
The PCG also recorded 7,504 passengers in Bicol ports, 6,322 passengers in South Eastern Mindanao ports, and 6,310 passengers in Palawan.
Meanwhile, PCG said that a total of 12,662 passengers were monitored going outside the ports in Eastern Visayas, Southern Visayas, and South Western Mindanao.
Lastly, the Luzon area, particularly the National Capital Region, Northeastern Luzon and Western Luzon, have a total of 2,491 outbound passengers.
Despite the influx, the PCG said that no unusual or untoward incidents were reported. /atm
