Organizers confident to draw 1,000 entries

The prayers of the organizers of the Philippine National Red Cross Million Volunteer Run to attract more runners appeared to have been answered thanks to the overwhelming support of Lapu-Lapu City residents.

The race is scheduled on Dec. 4 starting at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall.

As of press time yesterday, PNRC Lapu-Lapu Chapter have already registered 467 runners which could reach to a thousand according to Vicmil Gonzal, PNRC Lapu-Lapu  adEight Lapu-Lapu City-based companies, a school and a cooperative group have also expressed their support to the race.

“We are still waiting and counting for the other MEZ companies, hotels and resorts, public and private schools and other agencies to support the Red Cross Million Volunteer Run,” said Gonzal.

FEATURED STORIES

The running event of Red Cross Lapu-Lapu City will feature a non-competitive 5-kilometer run unlike in the third edition which featured three categories.

The race is organized to raise funds for its core volunteers in the barangays where 50 percent of the race’s proceeds will be given.

However, to make the running event more exciting, organizers are giving out prizes and awards to the top 10 winners.

Registration is pegged at P500 which includes official MVR shirt, race bib, Red Cross 143 ID, a whistle and Red Cross membership with accident benefits for one full year.
