2 suspected marijuana users nabbed in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – Police nabbed two suspected marijuana users at a checkpoint in Tayabas City, Quezon province early Monday.

A report from Quezon police headquarters said policemen flagged down two suspicious motorcycle riders while manning the checkpoint along the provincial road in Barangay (village) Tongko around 12:30 a.m.

During a routine search, the suspects Juan Co, 22, and Marielle Evangelista, 21, yielded two plastic sachets containing marijuana weighing 2.5 grams.

Authorities also seized glass pipes and a disposable lighter that were being used in smoking marijuana.

The suspects were detained at Tayabas City police jail for violation of Section 11 and 12 of RA 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” for possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia. /je
