Cops kill drug, robbery suspects in Cavite, Rizal 

SAN PEDRO CITY – A robbery suspect in Rizal, and an illegal drug suspect in Cavite were killed in separate shootouts with policemen early Monday.

In Rodriguez, Rizal, the shootout took place around 3 a.m. inside Green Rose subdivision in Barangay (village) San Rafael, said Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, police director of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (Calabarzon).

According to Eleazar, the still unidentified man broke into the home of the victim, Suzette Kareen, and attempted to steal a cellphone. The suspect’s scouring roused the victim, who immediately screamed for help.

Coincidentally, Police Officer 1 Antonio Perez, who lived nearby, heard the commotion and ran after the suspect. During the chase, the suspect purportedly drew his gun, prompting Perez to shoot him dead.

Meanwhile, in Silang, Cavite, Eduardo Villarmino was killed in a buy-bust operation around 1 a.m. in Barangay Sabutan.

Eleazar said policemen recovered from the suspect a .38 caliber gun and nine sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).        /kga
